Sufganiyot are a Jewish fried doughnut eaten to celebrate Hanukkah. Also known a Ponchkes in Yiddish or Jelly Bismarks in German.  A Sufganiyah is a fried doughnut. Traditionally they are made with apricot or raspberry jam but newer recipes include chocolate, cream filling and all kinds of other fun modern takes on the traditional recipe.
